Emulation Assignment

The photographer I chose to emulate is Troy Paiva. He shoots most of his photographs during the evening and the nightfall. He also uses a great sense of light in his photography. I found his work fascinating because of not just what he photographed but the kind of lighting he used for each of his photographs. And I also noticed each of his photographs have their very own unique look to it because of the many variety colors of lighting he displays on his night photography.

Here is some of Troy Paiva's interesting work:

The Decisive Moment

One of the strongest decisive moments I saw that Garry Winogrand had photographed which caught my eye was a young child holding a gun towards you while a child next to him on his left hand side looked as if he was trying to stop him by putting his hand over his arm. I can not fully tell that the gun the kid is holding is real or fake (most likely real though) I feel it has a strong decisive moment of the kid getting ready to pull the trigger and the child next to him stopping him in his tracks. I feel this plays a real interesting moment in the entire photograph.

These are more photographs of the decisive moment by the same photographer Garry Winogrand.

Dream

The dream assignment I thought was very interesting. I stumbled upon a photograph that really had caught my attention. In the picture it shows two tree trunks that seem to have their own unique shape to them on how they are positioned. The one to the left looks as if it is falling an the one to the right has an interesting bend to it. What caught my attention the most was the white leaves and the people who look like the size of ants in the picture. I think it made the picture mysterious and looked as if you are dreaming. I believe this photograph plays a good role as a dream. This image belongs to Studio Beck Designs.

Abstract and Design

Abstract art is one of my favorite designs in photography. One abstract photograph which I thought was quite amazing was a picture of more great scenery. I like how the rocks are put together and the bigger boulders around them. Its seems the picture together made a good combination of the objects. This photograph was taken by Nathaniel Coalson. What caught my eye the most is how the photograph makes it seem like the smaller rocks are making the shape of an arrow and it looks as if the arrow is pointing off the center of the photograph.

I also featured more photographs that have a good sense of abstract and design.

Light and Shadow

This photograph consists of reflection but also has very night lighting and deep dark shadows in the trees. This photograph was taken by Steve Z. And what I enjoy most about looking at this photograph is that the reflection in the water has such great depth of field and the dark trees in the background have such a crisp reflection in the water. I like how the reflection in the water and the sky above make a shape of a triangle around the subject. I feel this photograph caught my attention in many ways because of the reflections and also the heavy darks covering the trees.

I have also added two more pictures with light and shadow featured:

Point of View

This photograph caught my attention very much with it's great point of view. This image was taken by Bill Edwards. I really like structure of the glacier and how the clouds are passing it by in the background. What also interests me is how the glacier looks so perfectly still as its positioned and the lighting on the photograph is done really well. The darks coming out the left-hand side of the glacier look pretty good too.
